FAQ / Quick answers

Where to sleep?
  • Rent an RV
  • Find yourself a ShiftPod or tent
  • You can crash in the lounge — there will be a geodome sheltered from rain in case of bad weather
  • You can also return to the city for the night
What about food?

Self-reliance is the principle here — bring whatever you want for the time you're participating.

We'll organize a communal kitchen with gas burners (designated area only) and provide a grill with some meat, fish, and vegetables. Since participants aren't limited to camp members, it's best to bring your own supplies.

How do I get there?

Cyprus is easy and affordable to reach by plane from Russia, CIS countries, Israel, and most of Europe.

Once on the island, it's best to travel by car, taxi, or with friends. The site is approximately 40 minutes' drive from Limassol.

Do I need a visa?

Visa requirements depend on your passport and where you're flying from. In most cases, getting a visa for Cyprus is straightforward and takes around 21 days to process.

What's the weather like?

Cyprus has a mild Mediterranean climate. In mid-October, while most of the northern hemisphere is cooling down, Cyprus offers warm sunny days (~25°C) and cool breezy evenings — perfect for a weekend under the stars.

Can I bring kids or pets?

We love children and animals — but the current setup can't provide the safety or interactivity needed for little ones and furry friends.

We kindly ask you to leave your junior family members at home for now. We're open to creating space for them in future editions. 💛

Do I need prior experience?

You don't need special skills or prior burner experience. According to Burning Man principles, every participant is expected to be self-reliant and open to anything — but in truth, you'll always find helping hands and friendly advice if needed.

Make friends. Ask questions. Offer support. You've got this.

What should I bring?

The basics: tent, sleeping bag, comfortable clothes.

The essentials: outrageous costumes, reusable dishes, and a readiness for unexpected magic.

Wear comfortable shoes — there's some small thorny vegetation on the ground.

#Location #Logistics #Navigation

📍 Where will Afterburn take place?

For safety reasons, we don't disclose the exact location publicly — including GPS coordinates or the names of towns and villages.

Here's what we can say: the site is approximately 40 minutes' drive from Limassol, toward the center of the island. It's private land, owned by our friends and participants. The location is confirmed and fully suitable for the event.

🧭 When will we get the exact coordinates?

A few days before the event, we'll send all participants who've made a contribution: GPS coordinates, a detailed map and access instructions, and navigation tips.

Emails will go out to the addresses provided when making your contribution. Keep an eye on your inbox!

🛠 What if I need the info earlier?

If you're involved in setup, transporting materials, or bringing equipment and need the details sooner — that's possible. Contact your camp curator directly to discuss this case by case.

🛣 What's the road quality like?

The road is paved most of the way, turning into a dirt road closer to the site. The ground is solid and accessible for regular passenger vehicles — no special tires or off-road capability needed.

🚛 Can I drive into my camp?

Only during the setup period (for camps, art projects, and logistics), limited internal roads will be open for vehicles transporting large items.

During the main event, vehicles will not be allowed inside Afterburn territory. We will provide a small internal shuttle service to help transport luggage and people from the parking area to camping zones.

🅿️ Will there be parking?

Yes — a designated parking area, spacious and managed by a coordination team to avoid chaos or traffic buildup. There's no extra fee for bringing a car or using parking.

#Terrain #Conditions

🌄 What's the landscape like?

The site is typical of the Cypriot mountain region — gentle hills with flat patches suitable for camps and installations. It's not a desert, but during the day the white limestone rocks can get hot. Nights are noticeably cooler.

🌿 Is there any vegetation or shade?

There's some vegetation and a few scattered trees around the site. While mostly open and sun-exposed, there are a few shaded spots. We strongly recommend bringing your own shade structure or canopy.

🪨 What about the ground surface?

The terrain is rocky limestone — solid and firm underfoot. It's not suitable for digging large holes or using power augers. However, small structures, tents, and light installations can be anchored with appropriate stakes.

🏞 What's around the camp?

There are no swimming spots within easy walking distance. That said — this is Cyprus! Within a 20 km radius you'll find natural and historical landmarks worth exploring.

If you're into hiking, there are small hills and slopes around the site that can be climbed for a nice view and a moment of peace.

🔥 Can we use gas burners?

✅ Yes — but only in the designated, equipped communal kitchen area.

❌ Using gas burners in camp areas outside the communal kitchen is not allowed.

🔥 Can we light campfires or use open flames?

Any form of open fire is strictly prohibited outside specially designated zones. This is due to fire safety, local environmental conditions, and our shared responsibility toward the land.

We may grant permission for fires in specific zones — but only if they are properly equipped, meet safety requirements, are marked on the map, and inspected before the event starts.

🚒 How will fire safety be managed?

Each camp must assign a fire safety lead. We strongly recommend having on-site: a fire extinguisher, a bucket or container with sand, or other basic fire suppression means.

A mandatory fire safety briefing will be organized for all participants closer to the event.

📍 Where is the nearest hospital?

The closest clinic is located approximately 15 minutes away by car from the event site. All emergency services (ambulance, fire) are also within 15 minutes. On-site medical and fire response teams will be present throughout the event.

🔊 Can we play loud music? Until what time?

Yes! The landscape is great for loud parties. But we also want everyone to rest — there will be designated quiet hours for collective downtime. Details announced closer to the event.

🍷 Is alcohol allowed?

We do not prohibit anything that is not restricted by Cypriot law. Afterburn is an 18+ event and we strictly enforce this. If you're offering drinks to someone, please make sure they are of legal age.
